With a little help from this guide, your washer will be repaired in no time. The procedures for clothes washer repair vary greatly depending on the manufacturer. So the first thing you must know is the manufacturer of your clothes washer. Over the years appliance companies have merged, split up and gone out of business. This may cause some confusion, for example Whirlpool manufactures Roper brand. Therefore, if you have a Roper washer you must look at the Whirlpool washer repair section. Below is a full list of the brands I cover and their manufacturers.

New HydroWave GE Washer

GE came out with the HydroWave around 2006 and is the quietest washer on the market for the money. But as with all machines it sometimes needs repair. This washer is basically like the older T model washers but without a transmission that makes it much quieter. On this page I discuss HydroWave washers that are not running. Below are links to pages that will guide you in repairing your HydroWave washer. Note that I only talk about the problems that are specific to the HydroWave, so you may have to use the links below in conjunction with the links above to repair your washer.

Maytag Washer Repair (made before 2006)

In this clothes washer repair guide, I walk you through repairing two main styles of Maytag washers, the Newton and the Herrin. These were the two main styles of Maytag washers until 2006, when Whirlpool bought out Maytag. The easiest way to tell if you have a Newton or a Herrin is to tilt the washer over and look underneath. If there are two belts you have a Newton and if there is only one belt you have a Herrin. If you don’t see a belt you have some other type of Maytag washer.

Frontload Washers

This section of the clothes washer repair guide has links to pages about frontload washers. Frontload washers are overall great machines and I would recommend them to anyone who doesn’t mind paying the extra bucks to buy one.

However, no matter how well any machine is built sooner or later it will break. Front loading washers have gained popularity in the last few years due to their efficiently and sleek look so I have created pages dedicated to helping you repair frontload washers.

The most popular brand front-loading washers today are the GE front loader washer, the Whirlpool duet front loading washer, and most Kenmore front loaders. These machines are built basically the same mechanically but vary greatly electrically. So anything you read in these pages about mechanical parts will apply to most frontload washers with some variances and exceptions of course.
