Clothes Washer Repair Guide

In this clothes washer repair guide, you will find information on how to repair a washer. I will walk you through the same steps I take in repairing washers professionally. With a little help from this guide, your washer will be repaired in no time. The procedures for clothes washer repair vary greatly depending on the manufacturer. So the first thing you must know is the manufacturer of your clothes washer. Over the years appliance companies have merged, split up and gone out of business. This may cause some confusion, for example Whirlpool manufactures Roper brand. Therefore, if you have a Roper washer you must look at the Whirlpool washer repair section. Below is a full list of the brands I cover and their manufacturers.

With all the appliance company buy-outs, shutdowns and merges, it is easy to get confused as to what brand appliance you really have. Not to mention Sears Kenmore appliances are made by all appliance companies. It is important when repairing appliances to know what brand you are dealing with so I created this page to help you determine what brand appliance you have. Who Made My Appliance

Although most clothes washer repair is different depending on what brand you have there are some common problems with common repairs. Below is a link that will help you with these common problems.

Maytag Washer Repair

In this clothes washer repair guide, I walk you through repairing two main styles of Maytag washers, the Newton and the Herrin. These were the two main styles of Maytag washers until 2006, when Whirlpool bought out Maytag. The easiest way to tell if you have a Newton or a Herrin is to tilt the washer over and look underneath. If there are two belts you have a Newton and if there is only one belt you have a Herrin. If you don’t see a belt you have some other type of Maytag washer.

Frontload Washer Repair

This section of the clothes washer repair guide has links to pages about frontload washers. Frontload washers are overall great machines and I would recommend them to anyone who doesn’t mind paying the extra bucks to buy one.

However, no matter how well any machine is built sooner or later it will break. Front loading washers have gained popularity in the last few years due to their efficiently and sleek look so I have created pages dedicated to helping you repair frontload washers.

The most popular brand front-loading washers today are the GE front loader washer, the Whirlpool duet front loading washer, and most Kenmore front loaders. These machines are built basically the same mechanically but vary greatly electrically. So anything you read in these pages about mechanical parts will apply to most frontload washers with some variances and exceptions of course.
