Front Load GE Washer Leaks while filling.

GE Washer Model WCVH6800J1WW purchased in 11/09 leaks while filling. I have removed the lower toe panel and I can see water leaking and running down the rubber bellow and drips across the counterweight (at lower middle part of counterweight) onto floor. The water seems to be leaking from the top left portion of the rubber bellow as fill water enters washer. I have checked the rubber bellow for rips or damage and none found. I was advised to check the rear bellow seal where it connects to the tub, and make sure it wasn't loose which could let the bellow shift and cause a leak. I am not sure where this clamp is located to see if it is loose or not. The bellow doesn't move when I try to move it with my hands. There is no water leak as the wash cycle begins or during the spin or drain cycle. Do you have any suggestions or check points that may help. Thank you.

Answer

Hi,

There are two hoses where water come in at the top of the bellow. what you need to do is figure out if it is the hoses or the bellow. My money would be on the bellow but there is that possibility. If you take the top off you may be able to see the hoses during fill. If the hoses are not the problem the bellow is bad. This page will help with replacing the bellow. GE Washer Bellow Replacement

Problem Solved
by: Tom

After removing the top of washer, I could see that the leak was coming from the water inlet tube. This is a molded plastic tube that fits onto the bottom of the dispenser and then fits into the rubber bellow. the tube was split where it connects to the dispenser. I obtained a replacement tube (cost about $20.00) and installed this tube. The most aggravating part of the job was inserting this tube into the bellow and also the other small inlet line that fits into the bellow.

Thanks for sharing!

I have never seen this but have seen a lot of bellows so I was actually thinking your problem was going to be the bellow. However I knew this was a possibility and I am glad you were able to see the leak and figure the problem out.

Water leak NEW

Thanks for the information. I also found that the plastic pipe from my dispenser is also cracked. This is an obvious flaw in their design. Does anyone have instruction on how to replace this?

Thanks in advance...
