by John Baker

I have a GE electric dryer and the timer is not moving when the dryer runs. It also takes forever(hrs) to dry a load of clothes.

Answer

Hi John,

This dryer has two heating elements and if one of them burns out the problem you are having can occur. You will still get some heat but the timer will not turn on automatic cycle and it will take a long time to dry. The heating element is almost always the cause for this problem.

This page will help GE Dryer Disassembly

Be sure to unplug the dryer before starting disassembly.

Thank you,
