whirpool dryer won't go past "sensing"

I have a Whirlpool Gold dryer, model GEX9868JT0 that won't go past "sensing" when starting a cycle. I am guessing control board?

Thanks!

Hi,

It could be the control but it is possible you have a different problem. You may have a harness problem. Check all connects to be sure everything is plugged in good and doesn’t show sighs of corrosion.

Is the motor running? If the motor isn’t running the thermo fuse is most likely. On this model the thermo fuse only cuts the motor off so the control may light up.

If the motor is running try it on timed cycle and see if it works then. If it does work on timed dry check to see if it is heating properly.

Thank you,

not running

The motor does not start. After selecting the cycle, I press start and the sensing light just starts blinking, and it won't do anything after that. I went through the trouble shooting in the manual, and everything "beeped" the way it was supposed to.

Thanks for the quick reply!

Check Thermo fuse
by: Shawn/admin

If the motor will not start check the thermo fuse. To check the thermo fuse use an ohmmeter to check for continuity across the terminals with the dryer unplugged and the wires off the thermo fuse. If the thermo fuse is not bad check the door switch.

If both check good then I would say control.

Thank you,
Shawn

no continuity

checked the thermo fuse at lunch - no continuity. Also checked the little white one above it and nothing on it either?
