Icemaker Kits
These are images and descriptions of icemaker kits. If you plan to install an
icemaker you will need to purchase a kit. Also if you are replacing an existing
icemaker you may as well buy the kit because in most cases it is cheaper than
just buying a bare icemaker. There are two kits that will fit on 95% of all
refrigerators. Below are images and descriptions of them along with some other
icemaker parts.
GE Icemaker
This icemaker kit comes with everything you need to install an icemaker on any GE or Hotpoint refrigerator. However, the kit comes with a single water valve and if you have a side-by-side refrigerator, you may need a double valve. The part number for this kit is IM6. GE Single Water Valve
This water valve comes with the icemaker kit and you can also buy it separate. This valve will fit all GE or Hotpoint refrigerators that do not have a water dispenser in the door. With the exception of refrigerators with a round cube icemaker installed, this shouldn’t be much of a problem because they haven’t made round cube icemakers in years. GE Double Water Valve
This water valve does not come with the icemaker kit, if you need this valve you have to buy it separate. This water valve will fit most GE Hotpoint refrigerators that have a water dispenser. Feeler Arm Upgrade
GE icemakers come with a straight
feeler arm that cuts off the icemaker when the ice bin fills up with ice. On
some GE side-by-side refrigerators, the ice bin will get so full that it will
lift the top shelf up. This replacement feeler arm is curved so that it will cut
the icemaker off sooner so that it will not lift up the top shelf. The part
number for this feeler arm is WR49X10103. GE has started putting these upgraded

Whirlpool Icemaker
This icemaker kit comes with all the parts you will need to install an icemaker on most refrigerators that are not GE. It will fit on all Whirlpools with the exception of the models that have the ice bin built onto the door. Whirlpool Single Water Valve
This water valve comes with the kit but can be purchase separate. This valve will fit most brand refrigerators that aren’t GE or Hotpoint that do not have a water dispenser. Whirlpool Double Water Valve
This water valve does not come with the kit so if you need this valve you have to order it separate.
