by Jerry Murphy
(Atlanta)

So I fixed this ge clunker by replacing the mother board....NOW, my icemaker is overflowing and is frozen solid! Ice is a half inch thick in the tray and the maker is a block of ice! I'm about to take my shotgun to it......Anyone know what controls the water flow...Please help before i do something stupid...Jerry

Answer

Hi Jerry,
More than likely it is the water valve. Unplug the icemaker for more than 30 seconds. Then reconnect power and press the lever in three times. The icemaker should cycle and run water. As soon as water starts entering the icemaker unplug the icemaker. If the water continues to run you know for sure the valve is bad. Also make sure the tube that feeds the icemaker water isn’t clogged. If it is pull the tube out the back if the refrigerator and clear the tube with hot water. Then replace the water valve.

Thank you,
