Answer

Hi,

If the compressor is running the next thing you need to check for is airflow. If the refrigerator isn’t getting proper airflow it will not cool correctly. First check to see if the fans are running and if they are not check to see if anything is blocking them. If nothing is blocking the fan and it still will not run you may have a bad fan motor. If you are working on a newer GE refrigerator this page will help GE Fan Motor Diagnostics

If the fans are running you will have to check for an airflow blockage. Ice is the most common thing that will block inside the freezer. Check to see if ice is blocking airflow. There may be thick ice on the coils and if this is the case you have a defrost problem. Try this page if you are working on a newer GE refrigerator GE Refrigerator Not cooling

If you are working on a GE refrigerator that was made before 2002 try this page Refrigerator Not cooling

I hope this helps!

Thank you,

It is either the door switch or the socket the bulb screws into. Unplug the refrigerator and look inside the socket. You should see a tab at the bottom of the socket, gently prize up on that tab so that the bulb will hit the tab better.

If that isn’t the problem the door switch is most likely the problem.
