Frigidaire Side-by-Side FRS6L9EF- Ice Maker

Refrig. is about 3 1/2 yrs old. Icemaker began not dispensing "crushed" ice.(We had noticed little tiny pieces of plastic when getting crushed ice)
After much research, found out that if you reach in the back opening and push up on the Actuator selenoid (behind ice bin) and it doesn't stay up, then something is broke. Took out ice-maker and checked the selenoid. Came to conslusion that solenoid possibly needed replacing. Ordered solenoid (not yet received)....
When we put ice-maker back together, it would no long dispense even cubed ice. Do understand that it was dispensing cubed prior to taking apart.
What would be the cause of the ice-maker no longer dispensing cubed ?..Water dispenses fine.
AnswerHi Ruth,

The first thing you should determine is if the problem is in the ice bin or in the auger housing. Remove the ice bin and press the door switch. Then attempt to dispense ice while looking at the auger housing. What should happen is the auger should turn (little fork in back) and the solenoid should lift up. If not the problem is in the auger housing and if so the problem is in the ice bin.
If the auger doesn’t turn it may be frozen or bad. If it is frozen unthaw it. If not it may be bad.
Since you were getting plastic coming out with the ice check the ice bin good to see if there is anything obviously broken. Hope this helps!
